MyBB ArcBB - A MyBB Fork Project

    Looks like somebody is taking the fact that MyBB calls itself open source at its word and is creating a new independent fork of it. "ArcBB" is promoting itself as a total site solution integrating a portal, gallery, blog, etc. on top of the base forum package.

    Maybe it is me, but that site reminds me so much of vBulletin 3.x that at first glance I would tend to think it is vB 3.x instead of a different framework. :eek: I know some people are so enamored with the vB 3.x series that they think it still prevails over anything else but after working with other packages for some time now, even vBulletin 4.x, that style of the look & feel to a forum just feels outdated to me now.

    It's not actually on hold, the announcement was made to inform those interested that I would be picking the project back up full swing. I'm the product manager and creator more less, not a coder (yet) so I have to depend on those whom can code to get this ball rolling. Mybb itself has done an exceptional job forking from xmb but their current direction is very different from ours: hence the forking of mybb to ARC.

    The interest in forking mybb into ARC is awesome and I feel a bit guilty for putting it off for so long....but with enough time and support this will materialize very soon.

    Chris, thanks for the update. :cool: With the forum community in a bit of a uproar these days thanks to what is going on with vBulletin & XenForo, it'll be interesting to see if you are able to take ARC in the direction that you are envisioning.
