Tutorial Eye Perfection in Photoshop

[align=center]Step 1
First of all, open up your image of the eye you would like to colorize, this could be a whole face image, or a close up of the eye - which i will be using for teaching purposes in this tutorial.



Step 2
Now we want to make a selection of the eye itself. To do this we will just use the Eliptical Marquee tool(M). When the tool is selecte, drag an elipse around the iris, like so:



Step 3
We need to be careful with the selection of the eye, because in its current state, when we want to colourize, the eye-lid will also be coloured. Therefore we need to deselect the area where the eye lid has been selected. To do this we will simple use the Polygonal lasso tool(L).
While holding the ALT button on your keyboard, left click around the area of the eye-lid and make the following selection:


Step 4
Now onto the fun part, deciding what colour you would like to make your eye! On the bottom of your layers pallete, clck on the "create new fill or adjustment layer", and click on "color balance". A keyboard shortcut for this is CTRL + B.


A dialog box will apear showing attributes for Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. Play around with these settings to get the desired colour for your new set of eyes!

Step 5
Now that is colouring at its most basic level, if you use some initiative, you might thing... well that doesnt really blend in well...
So for that reason, im going to ak you to change the blending options of your colour balance layer to "overlay":


Now try playing with the blending options again.
TIP: To easily change the settings without starting again from the start, double click on the thumbnail next to the Color Balanace layer, the one with the circle and the triangle.
