Preview versions of 3.6.6 have been running on a number of forums for the last few weeks as well as vbulletin.com - and Jelsoft have announced today that all being well, it will be officially released this Friday May 11th.

More details of this and the status of other projects can be found here.

vbulletin.org will be upgrading to version 3.6.6 as soon as we have the time after the official release.

vBulletin.com upgraded to 4.1.12 BETA 1 (Download Available)
    Source: vBulletin.com

We are pleased to announce the release of vBulletin 4.1.12 BETA 1.

Beta releases are not recommended for Production/Live sites. QA has tested most of the fixed issues in this release, and completed substantial functional regression testing. However, additional instabilities may exist. While vBulletin 4.1.12 BETA 1 is very close to what we will release as 4.1.12, it should not be used to upgrade your live sites.

    Please note:

    • We do not provide support for Beta versions
    • We do not recommend Beta software to be installed on production sites.
    • We always recommend that you back up your database fully before attempting to install Beta software.

    What's New in vBulletin 4.1.12 BETA 1?
Read Paul's blog post for an explanation of what we've done in 4.1.12.

I'm quite impressed by the last few releases of vBulletin, they finally seem to have got their act together with regards to the outstanding bugs in the software (better late than never I guess).

They really need to give the software a visual makeover now :cautious:

I'll admit... the last few updates are definitely helping to drag IB out the mess they got into with the vB4 release. From reading the support forums lately it seems that they just need to teach some of their staff members how to behave professionally when interacting with customers to finish their rebuilding. Dropping the utterly ridiculous lawsuit against XenForo would do wonders for their PR but the software itself at least is no longer the source of customer disdain that it was.

I don't really frequent the forums over on vb.com

I didn't realise that lawsuit was still ongoing. Is there any indication about a likely outcome. Last thing I read was IB/vB were going after individuals not just the xF guys?

Some of the posts made by staff members against their own customers are quite surprising. For the most part it is Allen Lin, Paul M, and Lawrence Cole making the comments. They have all claimed at various times that they have no problem publicly attacking a customer back in response to any perceived personal attacks on themselves. The concept of separating business from personal feelings is lost on them.

Yep, both lawsuits are still ongoing. The suit in the UK has been pretty quiet since it hasn't started moving forward yet but the California suit is getting ugly. IB is suing not just "XenForo" as a company but Kier, Mike, and Ashley as individuals. They have also made allegations against Mert (Lizard King), Steve Machol, Scott Molinari (vBulletin Germany), Freddie Bingham, and some others. The allegations against Steve were made public around the same time that he left the vBulletin staff. At least with the US lawsuit the IB tactic seems to be to throw something at the wall, see what sticks, wait for the XF lawyers to shoot them down, repeat the process. It is common method that large well funded companies use against smaller rivals; essentially they bury them in so much legal costs the smaller company normally gives in by now.

With Forum Runner now a vB owned product and integrated into the core product it is only a matter of time before we see competitors like XF & IPB doing something similar.

XenForo 1.2.0 will supposedly contain a new mobile style so that will definitely close the gap a bit. At least for me I'd rather see a really nicely developed mobile style versus a dedicated app because then it means that it can run nearly any device instead of relying on development for iOS, Android, Blackberry, and WinMobile devices.

vBulletin Mobile Apps 1.3 have been released for vBulletin.com
    Source: vBulletin.com

vBulletin iOS & Android Mobile Apps 1.3 for vBulletin.com have been released on the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store (previously Android Market). Download the vBulletin Mobile app to check out the latest changes before updating your own apps (will be released shortly).

Please Note: vBulletin Mobile Suite customers are not yet able to publish vBulletin Mobile Suite 1.3 iOS or Android mobile apps for their forums. vBulletin Mobile Suite 1.3 will be released to customers later this week or the beginning of next week.
Note about our iOS Application:We have switched the Apple developer account that our application is published under! This means that if you have any previous version installed, you will not receive a notice that there is an update. The iTunes store treats version 1.3 as if it were a new app. All updates moving forward from 1.3 will be recognized as standard updates, but unfortunately Apple does not have a proper mechanism of transferring applications from one developer account to another, the only option is to delete the app from one account, and then add it anew to another account. This will not affect any customer's iOS applications and they will continue to be able to be updated as normal.

vBulletin iOS Mobile App 1.3 contains 44 bug fixes, 16 of which have severities of Major or above, including:

    • VBI-726 - App crashes when viewing long posts
    • VBI-700 - Cannot post a new thread without a thread prefix even if prefixes are optional
    • VBI-694 - Unable to upload pictures
    • VBI-752 - Posting special characters from app needs to be properly formatted

A full list of the bug fixes in vBulletin iOS Mobile App 1.3 can be found HERE.

vBulletin Android Mobile App 1.3 contains 19 bug fixes, including:

    • VBA-291 - New Navigation Menu Icons
    • VBA-292 - Updated Smilies
    • VBA-297 - Home screen Newest / All displays wrong information
    • VBA-286 - Issues when there's pictures in a thread

A full list of the bug fixes in vBulletin Android Mobile App 1.3 can be found HERE.

Interesting, although I can see the Navigation Manager breaking a few existing add-ons; not a huge jump forward in features - I always used to expect something special (a wow factor if you like) when x.1, x.2, x.3 etc of the software was released but I guess things have changed.

The activity stream could be interesting too if handled properly.

I assume that now Paul M is on the vB team they have decided to include some of his standalone mods in the core package?
