Just listening to some R.E.M. , Losing My Religion to be exact, who have announced today that they are splitting up after 31 years

I caught that bit of news earlier and was a bit surprised. Makes me wonder why formally announce a breakup after all of these years instead of just not working on another album or quietly going into retirement.

Oh, and now that you've got me in an R.E.M. mood, surfing YouTube for some of my favorites...

Noticed a bunch of Tweets from online friends mentioning "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster The People so I thought I'd check it out. Interesting. The video & beat is the total exact opposite of the lyrics. Some intentional hipster irony at work I think. :cautious:

Do care for the new version of the band with JD Fortune? I could do without it.

No, they could have done without reformingt. There will only ever be one INXS. Michael Hutchence was a brilliant frontman and they could perform live - I believe they would have gone on to be one of the biggest bands around.

However, I did like the show Rockstar INXS from which JD Fortune was plucked. It was much better than those other talent(less) shows.

    Agreed on both counts. :)

Instead of replacing Hutchence I think they would have had better success by taking a step from Queen by performing as "{Guest Singer} with INXS" instead of a reformed band. For many fans replacing Hutchence was bad enough but JD Fortune was not exactly a unanimous choice amongst them.

The show Rockstar INXS had some great performances on it. I'm surprised that we haven't heard more from Jordis Unga, Marty Casey, and Ty Taylor.

Back to the topic. I am listening Rihana's album, Loud specially the second part of "Love the way you lie" feat Eminem, a brilliant sequel to the part one. Don't anyone likes Eminem here??

Can't say that I do but while I don't listen to his genre of music I thought he did a great job in 8 Mile.

I thought Jordis Unga was amazing in Rockstar, I'd like to hear more, original material from her. Did a quick search but I'm not sure if she has released anything? Been listening to some of her performances on YouTube, here she is her performing one of my favourite David Bowie songs - Man Who Sold The World (I also liked the Nirvana unplugged version)

I loved her take on Man Who Sold The World. You're right, it had more of that Nirvana unplugged feel to it than other covers like the one by Lulu which retained that trippy 60's sound. Another of hers you might like is her take on Dylan's Knocking on Heaven's Doors. She didn't quite understand the lyrics fully (which can be shown by her slight changes, especially around the 2:00 mark) but it was a good performance.

I know you can pick up her version of World as an MP3 from Amazon but not sure her Heaven's Doors. At least for Amazon nothing comes up by her except for a few of her Rockstar: INXS recordings.

And on topic, a random selection by Prince is currently on my Zune for this afternoon's playlist. :)
